Abstract:
The Hawai‘i State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) offers insight on the many ways in which SHPD can support preserving and protecting historic buildings and landscapes that express Hawai‘i’s unique values, culture and lifestyle. The seminar will cover relevant preservation laws, the permit review process, preservation programs, and effective communication with SHPD.

Dr. Susan Lebo, Archaeology Branch Chief
State Historic Preservation Division
Susan A. Lebo graduated with a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Washington in 1992. She joined the Bishop Museum staff in 1993 as an associate anthropologist with a specialization in historical archaeology. Dr. Lebo worked at the Bishop Museum until late 2006 and over the next six years worked for several firms on projects in Hawai‘i, Guam, Tinian and Saipan. She has worked at the State Historic Preservation Division since 2012.
